Solar Hot Water systems/Data loggers Posted April 25, 2008

Above are links to visit the actual real time data of the solar water heaters installed in those cities. We installed data loggers sometime in March on the four units in these cities.  They report by cellular connection to the HOBO/Onset Computer server then goes to the website that you are viewing.

The first graph is the gas usage.  When the household uses hot water the gas burner turns on and and raises the temperature in the firebox which causes the spike on the graph.

Second graph is not used

The third graph is the hot water used.  Each count equals a gallon.  This shows the hot water usage in the household.

The next three graphs maybe in different order.  As marked:

Solar- This is the temperature of the water heated by the solar unit flowing into the existing tank.  This fluctuates when the hot water is used, as the sun goes in and out (clouds, night and day etc.).

Hot Water Draw- This is fluctuating as the hot water is used, as the solar unit produces heated water and nighttime temperatures.

Cold Water Supply- This also has fluctuations as the temperature changes in the existing tank and flows into the cold water pipe.  This also indicates the starting temp of the water and the preheated water from the solar.
