EPIC LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
EPIC identifies and monitors California legislation related to energy and climate change. We have recently updated our Legislative Center with summaries of over 100 new bills being considered in the California legislature.

At the outset of the 2007-2008 legislative session lawmakers introduced over 100 bills related to energy and greenhouse gas reductions. At the beginning of 2008, lawmakers introduced another 100 bills related to energy topics, including many bills related to reducing greenhouse gases. There are also a significant number of bills related to renewable energy, in particular, solar energy, energy efficiency, and green building. Several bills dealing specifically with zero energy buildings are notable. Also, legislation seeking to create "green collar" jobs also saw a dramatic increase this year. This is the first year there have been bills introduced that deal explicitly with the concept of the "Smart Grid."

EPIC has organized bills into the following categories:
•  CA Energy Commission
•  CA Public Utilities Commission
•  Clean Fuels / Vehicles
•  Clean Tech
•  Climate Change GHG
•  Distributed Generation
